The day I will marry my best friend.  The one i laugh with, live for, dream with, and love.

Days Until Our Wedding

Brian's parents had come in for the weekend for what I thought to be just a visit to see his new apartment and his new life in St. Louis. (I was very wrong.) The day leading up to the proposal was weird; things just seemed peculiar to me. Brian had planned an evening to see the Christmas lights at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Me being the planner I am, jumped right in to planning mode (what time are our tickets, what time would we need to pick his parents up from the hotel, I could drive since my car is more compact for city parking, etc.) and I was informed that everything was all taken care of and I wasn't to plan anything.

Brian had informed me that he could only get two tickets for the 5:15 pm slot, so he explained our parents would be right behind us, entering during the 5:45 pm slot. Ok, I thought, weird, but I'll go with it. When we entered, I suggested that we wait by the front to wait for our parents so we could all could walk through the lights together. Nope. I was informed that they would catch up to us. Brian kept leading me through the park. I was initially reluctant as I thought it was strange he wasn't waiting for our parents! But I kept following.

We made our way to the back of the gardens and stumbled upon a Garden Labyrinth. It appeared to be a small maze and should be easy enough to quickly walk through. Turns out, it was actually a little complicated, so my competitiveness kicked in. As I'm leading us through this maze, I finally see through the hedges that we are near the exit, to which I then hear "I think we need to go this way." I turn around to see Brian headed in the opposite way of the exit. Being polite, I say "No, I think it's this way." "No, let's go this way," he said. Nope. I was getting us out of this maze and his way was not the way. I was going to accomplish this maze. "But I can SEE THE EXIT!" He grabbed my hand and led me back into the maze. He randomly stopped and pulled me into a tight side hug. After a few sweet exchange of words, and before I could register anything, Brian was down on one knee! :) It was simple and sweet and I couldn't have imagined it any better.

If you've made it this far, it's safe to assume I said yes! ...and that we made it out of the maze....
